Seven doubts about AMCAT examination and their clarifications | Amcat | Modal Papers

It is well known at the moment that AMCAT is an employability test to reckon with but at the same time some students and job seekers are sceptic about it's relevance and importance. This article will serve to be an eye opener to all candidates who are in some kind of dilemma over AMCAT.

Doubt 1:

AMCAT is an examination for mediocre students.

Clarification:

If you doubt AMCAT for mediocrity then probably it is news for you that IITians and NITians are now taking AMCAT.

Doubt 2:

Since a candidate answering a question correctly gets a tougher next question and one who answers wrongly gets an easier next question, I think the test is discriminatory in nature and merit is positioned at equal footing with mediocrity.

Clarification:

No it is not that. It is true that the test is adaptive in nature and adjusts to the level of the candidate's merit but the marks are awarded on the basis of the level of the question answered and hence comparatively tougher questions carry more marks than the easier ones. Doubt 3:

Does AMCAT have anything to do with CAT (Common Admission Test)?

Clarification:

No, apart from the fact that both the examinations give a candidate ample opportunity to prove his or her excellence, AMCAT is an entirely different examination. Where CAT is taken by candidates for admission to renowned MBA colleges, AMCAT is a test for employability and by taking it candidates prove their suitability for recruitment for job positions in companies.

Doubt 4:

It is limited to a small cross section of students and is not a main stream test.

Clarification:

If you have this doubt in mind then please click the following links and learn how it has become the test most sought after by companies and placementcells:

Doubt 5:

I am appearing in the recruitment tests of companies directly, so there is no use appearing AMCAT.

Clarification:

Appearing the recruitment test of a company gives you a chance to be absorbed by that company only but a good rank in AMCAT brings your candidature to the focus of many companies at a time and the one that suits to your abilities best may recruit you. Hence by appearing AMCAT and doing well in it you give yourself a better chance to be recruited by the best company for you.

Doubt 6:

Since I have not performed well in a section of AMCAT I am not likely to be selected by best of companies.

Clarification:

This is not always right since companies have different requirements. Suppose you have not performed well in the test of English language but you have excellent marks in quantitative analysis and also assume that the company is in need of a financial analyst. The company may therefore overlook your score in language test and recruit you observing your excellence in numerical analysis. Moreover, you may re-appear AMCAT to improve your scores after 3 months of appearing it.

Doubt 7:

I heard appearing AMCAT guarantees a job.

Clarification:

No, though appearing in AMCAT highly increases your chances of getting a good job yet it does not guarantee a job. Based on the result of the written test and your performance in various sections it channels interview calls to you but eligibility conditions and qualifying standards of companies still have to be cleared by the candidates. Hence by performing well in AMCAT you increase your chances but the final authority of recruitment still lies with the company.
