Who is this post for ? — Fresher / Engineering Graduates / CS-IT / B.Tech
I know many of you would be knowing about AMCAT Exam, although there are several websites describing ways to crack it. But, in this blog post, i would definitely not waste much time in formalities and useless discussion.
Rather i would straightaway take you on the dimension from where you could actually take benefit of this post. So, first of all a little question to you all :-

However, for the latter case people, i would say just take less than 5 minutes of further reading to get the most important knowledge for your career.
So lets have another question :-

Have you taken AMCAT ?
OK! now the people who have taken AMCAT but scored less and those who have NOT TAKEN AMCAT shall continue reading…
Some important tips about the AMCAT Exam :-
  1. Its an ADAPTIVE Test, means it adapts to your level of knowledge.

Pros: You will not be judged by being compared to the most knowledgeable candidate.
Cons: If you answer too much answers correctly in the beginning of a section, you are probably going to get tougher questions in the end of the section, and you may not get them correct, hence lowering the score.
Strategy: If there are 25 questions in the section, Attempt the beginning questions correctly only if think you can handle all level of difficulties in the end of section.
Otherwise, it is advisable to answer 7 questions correctly out of first 12 questions and believe me you will definitely get easier questions to score in the rest 13 questions.
Its like level of difficulty is increased/decreased after 50% of a section (TRIED AND TESTED).

  2. Watch your Remaining Time to No. of Questions left to answer:
    • Many of AMCAT candidates failed to answer minimum no. questions in one or more sections, which resulted in a -1 score in those particular sections.
    • ADVICE: Watch your remaining time carefully, dont let the time go with large no. of questions left to answer.
    • Simply, dont take too much time on a question, typical time for every question must be 45seconds so that you can give around 1min 30seconds to a difficult question (there are about 3-4 long questions in each section).
    • DONT PANIC if you see time is about 2 min and you are on 14/25 question, in this case best option is to mark all the questions randomly, at least it would not get you a -1 score, and also chances are there that 50% of your random answers will get correct.

  3. Advice for English section :
    • If you get on to a Passage type question usually last 7 questions are of such type, dont just skip the passage, read the passage thoroughly, as each passage will have 2-3 questions.
    • There are about 2 passages in english section. You must read a passage within 1 min 20 seconds and answer the 2-3 question within 2 minutes.

  4. Advice for Logical section :
    • No need to prepare anything much on this. Section is easy.
    • But still you can prepare for the Abductive Reasoning and other parts from TCYONLINE.COM,
    • Yes its the best site for this section, it has youtube videos you can use to understand how to answer WEAK/STRONG ARGUMENTS, DATA SUFFICIENCY PROBLEM etc.

  5. Advice for Aptitude Section:

    • Other questions will be easy to answer.
    • I suggest you to study the Aptitude questions fromindiabix.com

  6. Advice for Computer Programming
    • This section has fairly easy questions, language independent but you should have basic knowledge of OOPs Concepts and some other important topics such as Pointers, Overloading, Overriding, etc.
    • Apart from programming, this section has questions fromComplexity (Omega / Theta / Pi), go through it thoroughly and some questions from TREEs, best sorting techniques to use out of (Heap/Shell/Insertion/Radix) etc.
    • SECRET TIP : goto m4maths.com search for AMCAT Previous Year Questions, there in computer section many questions are there which come as it is. (it’s kind of exam dump).

  7. Overall the process of clearing AMCAT exam easily shall start from 2 days before the test, as we all are engineers, we know what last moment preparation means, so go on preparing as the following schedule (Manipulative as per your need) :-
